Product Information
Modeled from the 1940 ‘Car builders Cyclopedia’, they follow the Bettendorf design. The castings are silicon bronze with high carbon stress proof steel wheels (hydraulic piston rod steel). The wheels case hardened to 60 RRC( harder than a file). They now have a silvery look to them. 16 bearings per set help to stabilize the truck and hold it in tram. The trucks are vertically very flexible. There are 20 passivated stainless springs, each rated at #30 when deflected .125”. Beyond that they come in contact with elastometric overload springs. CNC machining ensures easy replacement of any part. Trucks come fully assembled; ready to run. Truck technical information How to mount the trucks on the car. The car center plate sits inside the truck center plate, like the prototype. The center plate hole is a 17/64” hole. Note: the center plate pin on the car is only there to pick up the truck when lifting the car. It should be a very loose fit in the truck center plate cup. All other forces are transmitted through the cup. Start with about a .020” to .030” gap in each side bearer
